I passed!!!

Well...I PASSED!! I am officially an EMT!!! I am soooo excited and still in shock! I got an 83% which is way better than I thought I did since deep down in my heart I didn't even think I passed!!! So I just wanted to post it on here cause I am so excited!!!

Boy I tell you....there never seems to be a dull moment at the fire hall! Nothing like going from an extreme high to an extreme low...all in 24 hours!! Like I mentioned in my previous post, we had the opportunity to deliver a baby on Monday night....again...it was a wonderful experience and I will never forget it....however, last night we got called to a house here in the village of a kid who had used cocaine. Standing there I felt like I was on an episode of "Cops"! If it wasn't such a sad situation it would have been humerous. The kid could have only been like 16 or so. When we got on location there were already at least 6 state troopers there. They already had him in cuffs and he was sitting on the porch mouthing off to everyone who came to help him. From what I hear he had been very abusive to his family and tried being abusive to the cops which....obviously is not gonna fly. So they had to take him down. Scary! I've never seen anyone talk to cops like that before. At one point when they were carrying him to the ambulance (since he refused to walk) there were at least 6 police and firemen carrying him out and let me tell you...they were struggling cause he was putting up such a fight! It was insane! At that point I decided to step out of the way in case they pulled out a tazer or pepper spray or something...I did NOT want to be in the line of fire for that!! haha! So that was quite an exciting call. A first for me!!

Well I had the opportunity to help deliver a baby last night. That was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. We got a first aid call of a lady in labor. I went because there aren't many girls in the fire company and I knew it would be better for all involved to have a female there so I went...but the other ladies must have had the same idea cause all 3 of us showed up!! But that was good! When we got to the house she was ready and had the baby right there on the living room floor. It was just an amazing and awesome experience and I'm so glad that I got to be there and be a part of it. (oh and the baby was SO cute too!!! :) )

Just feeling a tad bit annoyed today. I'm wondering why some people act as though Sam and I are not "adults" since we don't have kids? It's not by choice that we are childless....trust me! Just because someone has kids...they aren't automatically mature and responsible...and just because someone does not have kids....does not automatically make them immature and irresponsible. Sorry...just really annoyed when I sit back and watch and listen to things going on around me.
